Overview

Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya – “The Smoke That Thunders”, Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and one of Africa’s most spectacular sights. Stretching over 1.7 kilometres wide and plunging more than 100 metres into the Batoka Gorge, the falls create a breathtaking curtain of water and a unique rainforest ecosystem sustained by the constant spray. Accompanied by an experienced guide, discover the history, geology and local legends surrounding this magnificent wonder while enjoying some of the most spectacular viewpoints.

Best Time to Visit

  • 🌿 Green Season (January – April): Experience the Falls in their full glory with powerful water flow and dramatic spray.
  • Winter Season (May – July): Excellent water levels and comfortable temperatures make this one of the most popular times to visit.
  • Dry Season (August – December): Clear views into the Batoka Gorge and ideal conditions for activities such as Livingstone Island and white-water rafting. Water flow on the Zambian side may reduce towards the end of the season.

Something Different: The Lunar Rainbow 🌙

One of Victoria Falls’ most magical phenomena is the Lunar Rainbow, also known as the Moonbow. Visible only during full moon periods and high water months, this rare natural spectacle occurs when moonlight refracts through the spray of the Falls, creating a rainbow at night. Viewing is available from the Eastern Cataract on selected dates and is one of the most unique experiences at Victoria Falls.
